Catherine Morissette

Associate Therapist, MACP

At a young age Catherine was introduced to therapy after she began to struggle with anxiety. The relationship built with her therapist taught her the importance of creating safe spaces for others in order to assist them in their own struggles. Fast forward through adolescence and into university, Catherine knew that creating safe spaces for others was important, leading her to peruse therapy as a career.

As a therapist and a human, Catherine has learned the importance of being a wounded healer. Truly, every therapist is navigating their own life journey while walking alongside their clients.

Catherine believes in the importance of being present and personable and helping to use her own struggles and life experience to empower her clients.

Get to know Catherine (She/ Her)

Catherine was raised in Hamilton, Ontario. After graduating from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Food Science, she worked as a nutrition counsellor for a number of years. During this time, she truly discovered her passion for helping her patients on the path to wellness, often discussing the mind and body connection. Catherine decided to continue her education, entering into the Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. She completed her internship right here at the Journey, working with clients in our Affordable Therapy Program. Following her internship, we were thrilled to bring Catherine onto our full time team as an associate therapist.

When she is not working, you can find her on the hiking trails with her dog, Ahsoka, playing video games, reading a good book, or spending time with loved ones. And of course as a new therapist, her free moments are crammed with self-care and self-compassion!

Catherine is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (#13670), and a Non- Certified Professional Member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

Catherine is not currently accepting new clients.
She will be transitioning into private practice as of November 25th, 2024
