at The Journey Counselling and Psychotherapy
Are you a student seeking a meaningful, supportive, and enriching practicum experience? At The Journey Counselling and Psychotherapy, we believe in cultivating the next generation of psychotherapists through collaborative learning and hands-on clinical experience. We are a virtual clinic based in Ontario offering remote practicum placements for students pursuing a Master’s in Counselling or Psychotherapy.

We are currently accepting applications for the May 2026 cohort.
Please note: All placements for 2025 and January 2026 have been filled. We will not be responding to additional inquiries for 2025 terms.
Due to high application volume, only successful candidates will be contacted for interviews.
What to Expect from a Practicum at The Journey
Our practicum placements offer students the opportunity to:

Work with diverse client populations in a virtual private practice setting

Receive high-quality clinical supervision from experienced Registered Psychotherapists

Engage in weekly individual or dyadic, and group supervision
-
Learn about narrative therapy, CBT, trauma-informed practice, EFT, family systems, and more
-
Participate in case consultation, ethical discussion, and skill development
-
Build confidence in virtual counselling delivery and best practices
-
Contribute to a supportive learning community

Placement Format and Requirements

Virtual placements available across Ontario

Interns work remotely and receive fully online supervision

We accept two interns per term
-
Multi-phased hiring process: Includes a phone interview and follow-up discussions with our team

Expect a 2–4 week turnaround after first contact for processing and next steps
Before starting, interns must:

Provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (police check)

Be approved and processed through their academic institution

Submit a bio and photo for marketing and onboarding purposes
