Emotion Based Therapy

Have you ever felt totally overwhelmed, but you can't really figure out what you are feeling? Maybe there is some heaviness or some anxiousness. Maybe there is some sadness or hopelessness. Maybe there is a mixture of joy and intense loss.

Life is about embracing the both/ and. It can be one thing and another at the same time. At the Journey Counselling and Psychotherapy we use emotion-focused therapy in a lot of our core approaches.

When we have the vocabulary to name something, often times the power it has over us lessens and the overwhelm can drift away to allow us to focus on other things.

If this sounds like you, reach out to our Care Coordinator to inquire about how therapy may work for you.

At the Journey Counselling and Psychotherapy, our approach to Emotion Management is unique and tailored to you.

When you're already feeling overwhelmed by life, adding another thing to your plate likely feels insurmountable. We'd like to take the guess work out of finding a therapist and start supporting you from this moment forward.

When you reach out to our Care Coordinator, you will receive an email back promptly to schedule your free consultation call. During that call you will be supported through the beginning steps and paperwork that is required to get you started. You will then be matched with a therapist that best suits your individual needs and preferences.

Emotionally focused therapy for individuals is a primary intervention that will be used in your sessions. Some other methods of therapy may include:

  •  Narrative Therapy

  • Internal Family Systems

  • Mindfulness

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Finding the right fit is one of the most important factors to determine your success in therapy. When you are ready, reach out to our Care Coordinator and we will get you started on your journey.
