Have you ever found yourself repeating the same patterns in relationships, even when you know they aren’t good for you? Maybe you find yourself overthinking everything you said, worrying you did something wrong, or feeling responsible for how everyone else feels. You might feel lost about who you are or what you want, constantly putting other people first while ignoring your own needs.

Many of the ways we cope today began as ways of protecting ourselves earlier in life. When we grow up in environments where our emotional needs weren’t fully met, our minds and bodies adapt in ways that help us survive. But those same patterns can later show up in our relationships, our self-worth, and the way we move through the world.

In our work together, I will walk alongside you as we begin to make sense of these patterns with curiosity and compassion. My approach is grounded in anti-oppressive and anti-colonial values, with an emphasis on empowerment and self-determination. I also work from a feminist lens, recognizing the impact of power, identity, and systemic influences on your life. Together, we can begin to understand your patterns, reconnect with your sense of self, and move toward relationships and ways of being that feel more authentic, balanced, and fulfilling.

Who Laila Supports

Laila works with children (9+), youth, adults, couples, and families. She offers a warm, collaborative space where clients can better understand themselves, break unhelpful patterns, and build more fulfilling relationships. She is particularly mindful of the unique experiences of individuals from ethnic and racial minority communities and works to ensure therapy is a space where all aspects of identity are acknowledged and respected. She supports clients who are navigating:

  • Childhood Trauma & Emotional Wounds – Supporting clients in exploring how past experiences have shaped their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, while building a more compassionate relationship with themselves.

  • Relationship Challenges – Helping individuals, couples, and families understand relational patterns, improve communication, and foster deeper, more secure connections.

  • Anxiety & Overthinking – Supporting clients in making sense of overwhelming thoughts and emotions, while developing greater awareness, calm, and balance.

  • Identity & Self-Worth – Helping clients reconnect with their values, needs, and sense of self, particularly for those navigating cultural expectations, marginalization, or feeling disconnected from who they are.

  • Family Dynamics & Parenting – Supporting families in improving communication, understanding patterns, and creating more connected and supportive home environments.

  • Life Transitions – Helping clients navigate change, uncertainty, and personal growth with greater clarity and confidence.

How Laila Helps

Laila takes a warm, relational, and trauma-informed approach to therapy. She draws from the following approaches to support clients:

  • Psychodynamic Therapy – Explores how past experiences, especially from childhood, shape current thoughts, emotions, and relationship patterns, bringing awareness to patterns that may exist outside of conscious awareness.

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) – Helps individuals and couples understand and express underlying emotions, strengthen emotional bonds, and create more secure, connected relationships.

  • Attachment-Based Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Internal Family Systems are all modalities Laila draws from to tailor therapy to each client’s unique experiences, needs, and goals.

Laila's Credentials & Training

Get to Know Laila

Originally from Egypt, Laila moved to Canada when she was nine and has since lived in Spain, England, and Brazil. Living in different parts of the world has given her a strong appreciation for different cultures, perspectives, and ways of life. She speaks English, Arabic, and French. She still loves travelling and backpacking, especially the feeling of landing somewhere new and slowly figuring it out through meeting new people, eating new food, and discovering the everyday rhythm of life.

She loves nothing more than being at the beach, where she loves swimming and soaking up the sun. She also enjoys staying active through running and playing squash, but also loves slower, quieter time getting lost in a really good book or watching a movie. Laila is also a mother to two children, which is a big part of her world. Day-to-day life is a mix of movement, chaos, laughter, and learning. She’s deeply passionate about social justice and advocacy, especially when it comes to equity and representation for diverse communities.

What to Expect in Your First Session

The first session is really about getting to know you—not just what brought you to therapy, but who you are as a whole person. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, exploring your experiences, relationships, and anything that feels important to share. You won’t be rushed or pushed to go deeper than you’re ready for.

Together, we’ll start to make sense of what you’re going through and what might be contributing to it.

By the end of the session, we’ll have a better understanding of what you’re hoping to get out of therapy and what direction feels right for you. From there, we can begin to shape our work in a way that feels supportive, meaningful, and aligned with your needs.

I am not sure if I am ready.

What do I do?

The success of therapy is all about the fit between client(s) and therapist. We recommend you start with a free 20-minute connection call, where you can meet one or more of our therapists by video to talk about your needs and preferences. Your therapist will help explain the process and can answer any questions you may have.
