Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Therapy

in Ontario

Living with Obsessive - Compulsive Disorder (OCD) can feel exhausting. You may find yourself caught in a cycle of intrusive thoughts, obsessive worries, uncertainty, and compulsive behaviours that temporarily reduce anxiety but never seems to provide lasting relief. Whether your OCD centres around contamination, health, relationships, perfectionism, morality, religion, checking, harm, or unwanted intrusive thoughts, it can leave you feeling overwhelmed, isolated, and constantly on guard.

Wild Nature

At The Journey Counselling and Psychotherapy, we provide virtual OCD therapy across Ontario, helping adults and youth better understand their symptoms, reduce the impact of obsessions and compulsions, and regain confidence in their daily lives. Our Registered Psychotherapists offer compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to your unique experiences and goals.

What Does OCD Look Like?

OCD is much more than being organized or liking things a certain way. It is a mental health condition characterized by persistent obsessions (unwanted, intrusive thoughts, images, or urges) and compulsions (behaviours or mental rituals performed to reduce anxiety or prevent something feared from happening).

Therapy Could Help you

Effective OCD treatment focuses on helping you develop a different relationship with uncertainty, intrusive thoughts, and anxiety. Rather than trying to eliminate every uncomfortable thought, therapy helps you build confidence in your ability to tolerate distress without relying on compulsions.

Our Approach to OCD Therapy

Our therapists use evidence-based approaches tailored to your individual needs. Treatment may include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns and behavioural cycles.

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to strengthen emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness skills.

  • Mindfulness-Based Approaches to reduce the struggle with intrusive thoughts and increase present-moment awareness.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)-informed strategies to help you live according to your values rather than your fears.

Your therapist will work with you to create a treatment plan that feels collaborative, supportive, and appropriate for your symptoms and goals.
