Have you ever felt anxious, stuck, or exhausted trying to manage everything going on in your life? Maybe you catch yourself acting like everything is fine in front of others while feeling completely overwhelmed internally, caught in cycles of doubt, worry, frustration, or fear. The stress of balancing roles and responsibilities can leave you feeling isolated and unsure how to move forward, but you do not need to do this alone.

I am passionate about supporting individuals who feel overwhelmed, stuck, and disconnected from themselves or others. This often includes caregivers (parents, grandparents, teachers, nurses, caretakers of people living with chronic health concerns…etc…), who put the needs of others before themselves, to the point of burnout. I believe that you can’t pour from an empty cup, and everyone deserves a supportive space where they can put their needs first and reconnect with themselves outside of their many roles and responsibilities. Together, we can navigate relationships and boundaries, build self-awareness for your needs, and develop self-compassion.

In our work together, I strive to create a safe, calm, and empowering space where you can feel heard and supported, without judgement. I will meet you where you are and walk with you on your mental health journey, at your pace. Let’s focus on what matters to you.

Who Racquel Supports

Racquel provides individual therapy to adults (18+). She aims to create a safe, collaborative space for clients to explore, grow, overcome challenges, and work towards desired goals. She supports those who are navigating:

  • Anxiety & Depression –  Constantly feeling overwhelmed and worried, or weighed down and disconnected? Racquel helps clients develop strategies to manage symptoms while addressing underlying causes to regain a sense of control and contentment.

  • Stress & Burnout – Balancing too many things at once, navigating unexpected situations, or feeling unsupported or unfulfilled in various roles? Racquel will work with you to develop strategies to promote more balance in your daily life, build resilience, and find ways to incorporate self-care.

  • Relationship Difficulties – Experiencing communication breakdowns, difficulties setting boundaries, or feeling disconnected from others? Racquel helps client learn to express their needs, resolve conflicts in a constructive way, and set and maintain boundaries to improve relationships.

  • Life Transitions & Self-Discoveries –  Facing significant or unexpected life changes or questioning your sense of self or future? Racquel can help you navigate change and find clarity by building resilience and identifying/redefining your values and goals.

  • Grief & Loss – Have you experienced the loss of someone or something important to you? Racquel provides a safe space for you to process your emotions, adjust to life after loss, and work towards healing.

  • ADHD – Struggling with focus, organization, time management, or social interactions? Racquel will work with you to identify strategies to improve focus, structure, and daily functioning, drawing on your unique strengths.

  • Specific Fears/Phobias & OCD – Do you feel like intrusive thoughts are taking over? Is fear causing distress and impacting your ability to function in areas of your life? Racquel can work with you to help manage and challenge obsessive thoughts and compulsive actions, empowering you to regain a sense of control.

How Racquel Helps

Racquel believes that every individual is unique, which is why she draws from a variety of therapeutic approaches and strategies to tailor therapy to each individual, helping clients gain insight, build resilience, and work towards meaningful change.

  • Person-Centered Therapy – This non-directive approach focuses on supporting clients with empathy and unconditional positive regard as they lead their own healing process, promoting self-discovery and growth.

  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy – This approach helps manage emotions and improve relationships with others by teaching skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – This approach helps to identify, challenge, and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviours that contribute to distress. Clients develop skills and strategies that assist them in working towards their unique goals.

  • Solution Focused Therapy – This approach helps clients identify and use existing strengths and resources to work towards their desired outcomes and positive change.

  • Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy – This approach focuses on improving client well-being and relationships by helping them explore and process their feelings. This is done by increasing client awareness of how their emotions are connected to their behaviours, thoughts, and relationships.

Racquel's Credentials & Training

Get to Know Racquel

Born and raised in a small Southern Ontario town and a large, blended family, Racquel appreciates meaningful connections. Her joy of listening to individuals’ experiences, exploring new locations, and being open to learning fuels her passion for working with others, inside and outside of her work as a therapist.

Outside of therapy, Racquel also enjoys spending her time with friends and family, reading, baking, hiking, listening to music, painting, and expanding her collection of humorous coffee mugs. She values genuineness, authenticity, openness, and humor, and brings these values into her work with clients to provide them with a safe, nonjudgemental, supportive space to grow and thrive.

What to Expect in Your First Session

In your first session, Racquel will get to know more about you –  your unique identities and experiences, strengths, interests, relationships, support systems, and daily routines.

Racquel will spend some time at the start reviewing policies and procedures, to ensure you are on the same page about what to expect in therapy, and to give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Questions and feedback are always welcome, in any session! There will also be an opportunity to share what has worked and what has not worked for you in the past, as well as your hopes for therapy.

Closer to the end of the session, Racquel will work with you to create a therapeutic plan tailored to you and your unique needs and goals. She will meet you where you are and walk with you on your journey, at your pace, adjusting with you as your needs evolve or change over time.

I am not sure if I am ready.

What do I do?

The success of therapy is all about the fit between client(s) and therapist. We recommend you start with a free 20-minute connection call, where you can meet one or more of our therapists by video to talk about your needs and preferences. Your therapist will help explain the process and can answer any questions you may have.
